Important Notice for ACH customers
Effective March 18,
2022, CUSI, Inc. and The Bristol County Water Authority have made updates to
the Customer Web Portal (CWP) for ACH payments.
Recently,
the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) has
implemented an enhanced fraud detection rule for any business that processes
online ACH debit transactions. This mandate requires that the account number be
validated as part of a “commercially reasonable fraudulent transaction
detection system” for the first use of an account number or for changes to the
account number. Due to this mandate, we now require validation of bank
account and routing numbers for payments made through the web portal. CUSI, Inc., our merchant software provider, has partnered
with Plaid to validate banking information. The
implemented API with Plaid links your bank account to your registered CWP user
login. Please follow the prompts to register with Plaid and link your
accounts.
Note: If you do not wish to enter your online login
banking credentials, you may instead use the Microdeposit verification process.
When selecting your bank click on the "link with account numbers"
option instead of proceeding with your bank. Once the information has been
entered, you will receive two small microdeposits into your bank
account within 1-2 business days. Once you have the deposits, you must return
to the CWP to verify the microdeposit amounts. Once this has been confirmed,
your account will be linked and you can proceed with setting up your ACH. The
deposits will be removed after a few days.
The new security update to our payment portal also
includes the addition of reCAPTCHA as an added layer of security for
payments.
All other forms of
payment are still available. One time credit/debit payments do not
require Plaid registration or verification.
